A visit to Doug’s workshop sees him working on two new guitars for Dave Cotterill, professional guitarist from Stoke on Trent. There is also an update on the 24 string Lyre Harp.
I called in to Doug’s workshop the other day and noticed he had an Allen & Heath mixing desk leaning against the wall.
It’s January 2014 and the 24 string lyre harp guitar is nearly finished. Check out what is left to be done before the customer gets a phone call to say it’s time to collect.
Happy 2014 everyone. Take a look and see what Doug is working on in the workshop.
I called round Dougs to take a guitar for some quick fret attention, and we decided to turn the video cameras on.
Doug shows us how he’s progressing with the 24 string Lyre Harp guitar. The guitar is not far off now, and you can see all the individual components, and the detailed structure inside, including Doug’s own acoustic truss rod system.
Here is Doug Wilkes in his newly finished guitar workshop. Doug wanted it to be warmer, and I can tell you it was roasting during today’s visit. Let’s take a look inside…
Doug Wilkes shows us around his nearly finished new workshop. Hopefully this week he’ll be up and running because I want him to fix one of my guitars for a gig next week..!!!
Doug is building himself a new workshop at last. Take a look around with Doug.
Doug shows us a black Strat that he’s selling for a customer. He made this guitar in the 1980’s; it’s got a fantastic action and is lovely to play. The guitar was owned by a member of the Marillion organisation.
